The National Police Agency announced on June 3 that it participated in the 'Frontier+' international conference held at the Hong Kong Police Headquarters.
This event was organized to share recent crime trends and performance in suspect apprehension and asset recovery among countries, and to further strengthen cooperation systems.
'Frontier+' is a cooperative body among anti-fraud centers in the Asia-Pacific region, launched in October 2024. Anti-fraud centers from law enforcement agencies in South Korea, Australia, Canada, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Macao, Malaysia, the Maldives, Singapore, and Thailand have joined as members.
The National Police Agency's Integrated Reporting Center for Telecommunication and Financial Fraud is also an active member. It regularly communicates with foreign agencies regarding multi-victim fraud crimes such as telecommunication and financial fraud and smishing, sharing the latest methods and trends.
According to the Hong Kong Police, from April 28 to May 28, law enforcement agencies from seven countries participating in 'Frontier+' investigated a total of 9,628 cases, including impersonation and investment fraud, and arrested 1,858 individuals.
A police official stated, "Multi-victim fraud crimes are becoming increasingly transnational and sophisticated, making international cooperation essential." The official added, "We will continue to pursue the tracking and apprehension of overseas call centers, while also working to improve laws and systems to prevent further victimization."
