Osan City to Promote Expansion of Intercity Bus Routes to Seongnam

Osan City in Gyeonggi Province announced on June 2 that it held a meeting with Seongnam City at Seongnam City Hall to discuss cooperation measures for expanding intercity bus routes from Osan to Seongnam and improving convenience for public transportation users.

This discussion on expanding intercity bus routes was prompted by the ongoing difficulties faced by citizens commuting to Seongnam due to the lack of routes and insufficient frequency of service.

Currently, there are only two intercity bus routes operating from Osan to Seongnam: routes 8301 and 8302. Even these operate only seven times a day, causing inconvenience for citizens.

At the meeting, Osan City proposed three major transportation improvement measures to Seongnam City and requested cooperation: the establishment of a new route (8303) from Segyo 2 District toward Seongnam, the addition of more buses to the existing 8301 route, and the introduction of a seat-reservation express bus called the 'Premium Bus' next year.

Lee Kwonjae, mayor of Osan, stated, "Seongnam is a representative commuting destination for Osan citizens, but transportation options are severely lacking, making inconvenience a daily reality. Through this discussion, we will strive to create a more convenient transportation environment."

Shin Sangjin, mayor of Seongnam, also responded, "Connectivity between cities directly affects the quality of life for citizens. If both cities work together to reorganize the transportation network, we can create changes that citizens will truly feel."
