June 2 Democratic Party Central Election Committee Meeting
"The Presidential Election Must Be a Day to Confirm That Power Belongs to the People"
Park Chandae: "A Turning Point for Livelihoods and Economy Devastated by Three Years of Yoon's Administration"
Yoon Yeojoon, the Chief Senior Election Campaign Chairperson for the Democratic Party of Korea, stated on June 2, the day before the main vote of the June 3 presidential election, "Let us demonstrate our ability to restore democracy in the Republic of Korea through the election with a humble attitude until the very end," adding, "I firmly believe that a stable change of government will definitely be achieved."
Chairperson Yoon delivered these remarks at the Central Election Countermeasures Committee meeting held at the Democratic Party headquarters in Yeouido, Seoul, on this day. He said, "The June 3 election is a day to dispel the specter of illegal martial law and insurrection and to reaffirm Articles 1 and 2 of the Constitution," emphasizing, "It must be a historic day to confirm that power belongs not to those in authority, but to the people."
Until the very end of the campaign, the election committee emphasized the necessity of a change in government. Park Chandae, the Chief Senior Election Campaign Chairperson, stated, "This presidential election must serve as a turning point to judge the forces of insurrection that have ruined the country and to address the collapse of livelihoods and the devastated economy during three years of the Yoon Sukyeol administration." He further stressed, "The only candidate who can restore collapsed democracy and constitutional order, and who can most quickly resolve the issues of people's livelihoods, is Lee Jaemyung."
He continued, "If Candidate Lee becomes president, we will immediately launch an Emergency Economic Response Task Force (TF) upon his election," adding, "We will quickly devise practical measures for the people's economy and actively respond to the domestic economic downturn."
There was also continued criticism of rival candidates. Chairperson Park stated, "The comment manipulation by the far-right group 'Libak School' is a clear case of election fraud and constitutes a cyber insurrection." He continued, "It has been revealed that instructors from Libak School have been deployed to Yoon Sukyeol's key pledge, the elementary school Neulbom Classroom, to indoctrinate children with far-right ideology. If this is true, it is a serious crime against the state, comparable to the National Intelligence Service comment manipulation case during the Lee Myungbak administration or the state-authored textbook case under Park Geunhye." He added, "I hear that Libak School's YouTube videos are being deleted, but further destruction of evidence must not be allowed," urging the police to conduct a swift investigation.
He also addressed Kim Moonsu, the People Power Party candidate, stating, "In the 2020 Libak School YouTube activity report video, Candidate Kim appears, and since 2018, the head of Libak School has boasted of a close relationship with Candidate Kim, with Kim Moonsu TV listed as a partner in Libak School-organized education." He insisted, "The full truth regarding this matter must be revealed to the public immediately today."
