Gyeonggi Trail Volunteers Begin Full-Scale Activities, Take on Trail Inspections and More

The Gyeonggi Trail volunteers have officially begun their activities.

The Gyeonggi Tourism Organization announced on June 2 that it held the "2025 Gyeonggi Trail Volunteer 3rd Class Launch Ceremony" at the Gyeonggi Human Resources Development Institute in Suwon on May 31, marking the official start of volunteer activities.

This year, a total of 17 teams comprising 34 volunteers were selected, mainly residents living near the Gyeonggi Trail courses. These volunteers will focus on establishing a sustainable maintenance system for the Gyeonggi Trail and strengthening connections with local communities through their voluntary participation.

Their main activities include on-site inspections of the trail, maintenance of guide signs, checking the condition of the trail surface and facilities, and reporting any inconveniences.

They are also responsible for a variety of other roles, such as inspecting hazardous sections caused by natural disasters and producing promotional content.

Prior to the launch ceremony, the volunteers received field training and preliminary education on the Gyeonggi Trail in cooperation with the non-profit organization "Korea's Roads and Culture," aimed at improving their basic knowledge and practical skills needed for trail management and visitor engagement.

A representative from the Gyeonggi Tourism Organization said, "We expect that the volunteers will contribute to making the Gyeonggi Trail safer and more pleasant," adding, "The Gyeonggi Tourism Organization will continue to develop measures to expand convenience facilities and accessibility in order to steadily increase trail usage."

The Gyeonggi Trail, a 860-kilometer circular walking trail in Gyeonggi Province that opened in November 2021, has recently surpassed 1,000 people who have completed the entire course, solidifying its status as a leading walking destination in the Seoul metropolitan area.
