Seongnam City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor: Shin Sangjin), announced on June 2 that, as part of short-term traffic improvement measures to alleviate congestion in the Pangyo Techno Valley 2 and 3 areas, it has improved signal operations at the Siheung Intersection for the Bundang~Naegok direction exit and has significantly extended the left-turn waiting lane at the entrance three-way intersection of Pangyo Techno Valley 2 from the previous 35 meters to 115 meters.

This measure is part of the comprehensive traffic improvement plan for the Pangyo area that has been fully implemented since 2024. The city is pursuing phased traffic improvements through 2028, ranging from efficient management of urban roads to the construction of new highway connections.

In particular, by June, the city plans to expand the Dallaenaero road from Daewangpangyo Tollgate to Geumtodong Three-way Intersection from four lanes to six. Additionally, two temporary shuttle bus boarding and alighting zones will be established on Daewangpangyo-ro, taking into account the commuting needs of companies located in Pangyo Techno Valley.

In the medium term, the city aims to strengthen metropolitan transportation links, including the construction of a new connection to the Second Gyeongin Expressway in 2026, the installation of an ex-HUB bus stop on the Gyeongbu Expressway in 2027, and the opening of a Seopangyo connection in 2028, thereby gradually improving highway accessibility. At the same time, the second phase of the Dallaenaero expansion project (an additional 740 meters) and the expansion of the right-turn lane toward Yeosudaero near Siheung Intersection will proceed in parallel.

In the long term, the city is considering the construction of a new exit ramp on the Yongin-Seoul Expressway and the promotion of the Southern Gyeonggi Metropolitan Railway. Seongnam City is working with the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport to have these initiatives reflected in national plans.

Seongnam City has also strengthened parking enforcement in the Pangyo Techno Valley area since November of last year to establish better traffic order. The city conducts four patrols daily and carries out additional enforcement upon receiving complaints. In addition, at major points with heavy traffic volumes?such as Dallaenaero, the entrance three-way intersection of Pangyo Techno Valley 2, and Geumtodong Three-way Intersection?the city flexibly adjusts signal cycles during commuting hours to improve the flow of internal traffic.

To promote the use of public transportation, the number of bus routes operating within Pangyo Techno Valley 2 has been increased from nine routes with 83 buses to 13 routes with 120 buses. Four new routes have been introduced: city buses S2, 351, Seoul 07 (morning commute), and Seoul 07 (evening commute). For the most frequently used routes?55, 231, 315, and village bus 87?the interval between buses has been shortened to improve convenience for citizens.

A Seongnam City official stated, "Through the continued operation of the traffic countermeasures task force, we will share progress and steadily implement mid- to long-term transportation measures to resolve commuting inconveniences for employees of resident companies."
