For Farms Without Secured Sales Channels or Facing Delivery Challenges After Contract
On June 1, Jeollanam-do announced that, in cooperation with the Honam Region Eco-friendly Agricultural Products Integrated Logistics Center, it will operate the nation's first Eco-friendly Agricultural Products Purchase Brokerage Center on a trial basis for four months until September 30.
The Eco-friendly Agricultural Products Purchase Brokerage Center aims to address both the difficulties farmers face in securing sales channels for eco-friendly agricultural products and the challenges distribution companies experience in securing timely supplies due to a lack of production information.
The center is located at the Honam Region Eco-friendly Agricultural Products Integrated Logistics Center in Naju. The service is available to farms cultivating 36 types of fruit and vegetable crops, excluding rice and barley, that have not yet secured sales channels.
If a contract farm faces difficulties in delivering products due to changes in the buyer's circumstances, it can also apply for emergency purchase brokerage services.
For fruits, applications must be submitted for crops harvested after September. For vegetables, applications must be made within 10 days from the date of sowing or transplanting after June.
Once the logistics center decides to purchase a particular item, the center plans to visit the relevant cities and counties once or twice a week to collect the products.
Producers can apply directly by phone to the logistics center or through the website.
Kim Youngseok, Director of Eco-friendly Agriculture at Jeollanam-do, stated, "Through the operation of the brokerage center, we will systematically establish the 'Eco-friendly Agricultural Products Production and Distribution Management System' so that farmers can focus solely on production without worrying about sales channels."
