Uiseong County Holds Symposium for Recovery in Wildfire-Affected Areas

"Strengthening Regional Resilience Through Residents' Psychological Stability and Public-Private Cooperation"

On May 30, 2025, Uiseong County in Gyeongbuk held the "2025 Uiseong County Regional Recovery Symposium" at the Youth Culture Center performance hall under the theme "Disaster and Emergency Response and Resilience Enhancement for Residents in Wildfire-Affected Areas."

Uiseong County Holds Symposium for Recovery in Wildfire-Affected Areas Uiseong County in Gyeongbuk held a regional recovery symposium where Professor Lee Youngjun presented on "Local Disaster Private Cooperation Governance," and Research Fellow Jeong Munsu from the Korea Rural Economic Institute presented on rural regeneration measures for wildfire damage.

Approximately 300 participants attended the symposium, including disaster and rural regeneration experts, officials from Uiseong County and Gyeongbuk Province, and members of private organizations. The event aimed to explore practical measures to support the psychological stability and community recovery of residents in wildfire-affected areas.


The keynote presentations featured Uiseong County's wildfire response cases and recovery status. Professor Lee Youngjun from Hirosaki University presented on "Local Disaster Private Cooperation Governance," while Research Fellow Jeong Munsu from the Korea Rural Economic Institute introduced rural regeneration measures for wildfire damage.


The subsequent panel discussion delved into psychological recovery for affected residents, regional recovery strategies, and approaches to building public-private cooperative governance. Participants emphasized that a private cooperation system is essential for strengthening resilience at the local level.


Kim Jusu, Governor of Uiseong County, stated, "We will establish a systematic response foundation for the psychological stability and daily recovery of residents after wildfire damage," and added, "We will continue to enhance regional resilience through ongoing support and cooperation."
