Jeonnam has moved once again. In the early voting for the June 3 snap presidential election, Jeonnam recorded the highest voter turnout in the country, reaching the peak of its political fervor. At the center of this are the sentiments of voters in the eastern region of Jeonnam, including Suncheon, Yeosu, and Gwangyang.
The footsteps of voters flocking to the early voting stations were not light. In Yeosu, an unusual scene unfolded as people lined up from early dawn, and in Suncheon, even volunteers came out to encourage citizens to vote.
A voter in his 60s from Suncheon said, "My anger toward fake reforms and privileged politics has reached a breaking point," adding, "I have placed my last hope in candidate Lee Jaemyung."
The eastern region of Jeonnam has traditionally been called the heartland of the Democratic Party, but this presidential election is not simply about regional support. The support for Lee Jaemyung is based not just on 'party' but on 'expectation.'
A young voter from Gwangyang said, "Lee Jaemyung is someone who is known for action, not just words," and added, "Lee Jaemyung is the only candidate who can bring about changes that truly impact our lives."
