10 Daegu Companies Hold "Work-Study Parallel Corporate Briefing" at Youngjin College with 220 Specialized High School Students Attending

Youngjin College (President Choi Jaeyoung) announced on May 30 that its AI Convergence Mechanical Department successfully hosted a "Work-Study Parallel Corporate Briefing Session," inviting more than 220 students and teachers from specialized high schools in the Daegu-Gyeongbuk region.


The briefing session, which took place from 10:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in the International Seminar Room of the Information Building on campus, was organized as part of the Daegu Metropolitan Office of Education's "Vocational Education Innovation District Project." The event was designed to concretize the pathway of early employment followed by further education for local talent, and to support their development into highly skilled technical professionals through close cooperation among high schools, universities, and industries.

Human resources managers from 10 leading local companies, including Dongbo Co., Ltd., Samgwang Co., Ltd., Hanjung NCS Co., Ltd., Hwashin Junggong Co., Ltd., and Shilla Gongup Co., Ltd., participated in person to introduce their companies and provide recruitment information.


Youngjin College has been operating a work-study parallel program in collaboration with industry since 2022, based on more than 30 years of accumulated know-how in customized education. Through this, the college provides various lifelong learning opportunities to enable its graduates to demonstrate highly skilled job competencies in the field.


In particular, the AI Convergence Mechanical Department signed a customized education agreement last year with Dongbo Co., Ltd., a global company that exports automotive parts to 28 countries and achieves annual sales of 350 billion KRW. The department has also established cooperative networks with companies such as Hanjung NCS Co., Ltd., a specialized manufacturer of energy storage systems (ESS).


Hwang Sangwon, Deputy Manager of Human Resources at Dongbo Co., Ltd., stated, "This is my third year participating in this briefing session, and it is a great opportunity to reliably secure outstanding local talent. In particular, with the new operation of the Daegu Division, we expect local recruitment to expand even further."


High school students who attended the briefing session and apply to participating companies will be given priority hiring opportunities, and Youngjin College also provides extensive scholarship benefits to participants in the work-study parallel program.


An Sanguk, Head of the AI Convergence Mechanical Department, said, "We are offering a special scholarship benefit that covers 50% of the first semester's tuition and 30% for the following three semesters for participating students. Through the customized education-based work-study parallel program, specialized high schools, universities, and companies will realize an organically integrated cooperative system, further strengthening the substance of vocational education."


Meanwhile, the AI Convergence Mechanical Department recorded an employment rate of 80.1% in the Ministry of Education's information disclosure this year (for 2023 graduates), with 146 graduates (34.4%) employed by large corporations, public enterprises, or overseas. It is also notable as the only department among all junior colleges nationwide to offer the full range of programs from associate to bachelor's to professional master's degrees.
