Imsil County to Conduct Safety Inspections of Livestock Farm Facilities Starting Next Month

Cooling, Ventilation Facilities, and Water Supply Systems

Imsil County in North Jeolla Province will conduct preliminary safety inspections of livestock farm facilities within its jurisdiction starting next month.

According to the county on the 30th, this inspection has been initiated to prevent natural disaster damage to livestock farms in advance of the full onset of summer. The Agricultural and Livestock Division of the county plans to carry out on-site inspections targeting farms that are particularly vulnerable to disasters within the area.

The inspections will be conducted in accordance with the 2025 summer natural disaster countermeasure period (from May 15 to October 15), and will be carried out thoroughly according to each type of disaster.

To prepare for heat waves, the county will check the operational status of cooling and ventilation systems, water supply systems, and roof heat-shielding facilities inside livestock barns. In addition, it will inspect contingency plans for power outages and whether emergency generators are available.

For typhoons and strong winds, the focus will be on checking the structural stability of livestock barns, the fixation status of roofs, and whether lightweight structures (such as vinyl greenhouses) have been reinforced. To prevent flood damage, the county will also inspect the maintenance of drainage channels around barns, facilities to prevent the inflow of rainwater, and whether feed is stored in waterproof conditions.

For any deficiencies identified during these inspections, immediate corrective action will be requested, and if necessary, support will be provided in cooperation with relevant partner organizations. The county is also providing support such as heat wave prevention agents, cooling facilities for barns, and livestock disaster insurance programs.

County Governor Shim Min stated, "This summer, stronger heat waves and heavy rainfall are forecast compared to previous years, making the prevention of damage to livestock farms more important than ever." He added, "We will do our utmost to identify and address risk factors in advance through these inspections to ensure the safety of both livestock and farms."
