NH Investment & Securities Surpasses 50,000 Users for Capital Gains Tax Reduction Strategy Customer Choice Service

NH Investment & Securities announced on May 30 that more than 50,000 customers have applied for its "Overseas Stock Capital Gains Tax Reduction Strategy Customer Choice" service in just over two months since its launch for overseas stock investors. As of the previous day, 50,725 customers were using the service.

NH Investment & Securities Surpasses 50,000 Users for Capital Gains Tax Reduction Strategy Customer Choice Service

As investor interest in overseas stock capital gains tax increases, NH Investment & Securities has introduced this industry-first service that allows investors to directly choose the method for calculating acquisition cost when reporting capital gains tax. Previously, taxes were uniformly calculated according to a predetermined method. However, through this service, customers can now select a more advantageous tax-saving strategy based on their individual investment preferences and trading patterns. The FIFO (First-In, First-Out) method calculates taxes based on the principle that shares purchased first are sold first, while the moving average method calculates the average unit price of shares regardless of purchase timing and applies it equally to all sales.

Starting this year, the company also offers a feature that allows investors to compare and review the results of different capital gains tax calculation methods in advance, enabling them to predict their tax burden and adjust their trading strategies accordingly. However, customers who have already chosen the moving average method for their 2024 tax year holdings are restricted from using this service. In addition, for customers who find it difficult to file overseas stock capital gains tax reports, the company is also providing an "Overseas Stock Capital Gains Tax Filing Agency Service" in partnership with a tax accounting firm. This differentiated service, which helps alleviate the actual reporting burden, has received strong positive feedback.

Additionally, NH Investment & Securities is helping domestic investors participate in U.S. initial public offerings (IPOs) through its "U.S. IPO Subscription Agency" service. By partnering with local U.S. IPO brokers, customers can subscribe to IPO shares of companies scheduled to be listed on major exchanges such as the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE), NASDAQ, and AMEX. The entire process?from subscription to allocation and trading?can be managed conveniently through a mobile app. This enables domestic investors to participate in listing opportunities of promising global companies, and NH Investment & Securities customers can easily implement global asset allocation strategies alongside investments in high-growth overseas companies.

Lee Jaekyung, Head of Retail Business, stated, "We plan to further strengthen our competitiveness in overseas stock investment with a variety of services in response to customers' strong interest in overseas stocks, including U.S. equities." He added, "We will continue to develop NH Investment & Securities' unique overseas stock specialist services that reflect customer needs, and lead the global wealth management market."
