Intellian Technologies announced on May 30 that the domestic supply of its low Earth orbit (LEO) flat-panel antennas is imminent.
On this day, the Ministry of Science and ICT approved all three agreements for the domestic supply of LEO satellite communication services: between Starlink Korea and SpaceX, between Hanwha Systems and OneWeb, and between KT SAT and OneWeb. According to the Telecommunications Business Act, foreign operators can only provide services through domestic key telecommunications operators. With this approval, OneWeb's service will officially launch in Korea.
OneWeb is a LEO satellite communication service that offers low latency and high throughput using approximately 680 satellites. Intellian Technologies is a key partner for OneWeb, developing and supplying flat-panel antennas worldwide. Intellian Technologies became the second company in the world, after Starlink, to commercialize flat-panel antennas, earning recognition for its technological capabilities.
OneWeb's domestic LEO satellite communication service is expected to be used for a variety of purposes, including in remote areas where communication is difficult, as well as for fixed, enterprise, mobility, maritime, and military applications. Intellian Technologies' flat-panel antennas will play a significant role in accelerating the adoption of OneWeb's LEO service in the Korean market. Following a conformity assessment for user terminals under the Radio Waves Act, full-scale domestic supply will begin.
