Former US President Joe Biden and his close associates are under intense fire from the Donald Trump administration following revelations that Biden has been facing serious health issues, including a diagnosis of prostate cancer. There are allegations that, when Biden ran as the Democratic presidential candidate last year, these issues were systematically concealed despite being known at the time.

According to USA Today and other sources, on May 29 (local time), White House spokesperson Karoline Leavitt stated during a briefing that Dr. Jill Biden, the former First Lady and wife of former President Biden, should testify before the US Congress regarding Biden's health issues.

When asked whether Jill Biden should testify before Congress about the former president's health problems, Leavitt said, "Anyone who has seen Biden's videos and photos firsthand and has even a bit of common sense can see that there has been a cover-up," adding, "Jill Biden clearly conspired to conceal this."

She continued, "She is still lying to the American people," and criticized, "She thinks the American people are so stupid that they will believe her lies." She added, "Frankly, this is insulting, and she must be held accountable for it."

In the 2024 US presidential election, former President Biden ran as the Democratic candidate and faced off against the Republican candidate, incumbent President Trump. Although Biden ultimately withdrew voluntarily after much deliberation, there has been widespread criticism that his decision to run as a candidate was itself problematic, given the seriousness of his health issues.

In particular, there have been claims that Dr. Jill Biden and other aides actively discouraged Biden from withdrawing his candidacy during this process. These allegations were mentioned in the new book "Original Sin" by White House correspondents Jake Tapper of CNN and Alex Thompson of Axios.

Meanwhile, it has been reported that the US House Oversight Committee has requested an interview with former President Biden's personal physician. There is also the possibility that a subpoena could be issued if the request is not complied with.
