KCC Glass Launches Public-Private Partnership to Protect Wild Birds

MOU Signed to Promote 'Save the Birds KCC Glass' Campaign
"KCC Glass Contributes to Solving Bird Collision Issues as a Leading Glass Company"

KCC Glass has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to launch the biodiversity conservation campaign 'Save the Birds KCC Glass,' strengthening the public-private cooperation system for the protection of wild birds.

On May 28, at the National Institute of Ecology in Seocheon-gun, Chungnam, KCC Glass announced on May 30 that it had signed a business agreement with the National Institute of Ecology, wild bird specialist YouTuber Saedeokhu, and the social contribution non-profit foundation Impact Business Foundation (IBA) to promote the 'Save the Birds KCC Glass' campaign.

'Save the Birds KCC Glass' is a campaign that attaches bird collision prevention stickers to buildings located near forests where wild bird collisions are likely to occur frequently, and holds talk concerts to raise awareness about wild bird protection. As a leading domestic glass company, KCC Glass planned this campaign to help address the issue of wild bird collisions with man-made structures and to fulfill its social responsibility for biodiversity conservation.

As the number of birds dying from collisions with glass and soundproof walls of buildings in Korea has increased, the government revised the 'Wildlife Protection and Management Act' in 2022 and mandated public institutions to implement measures to reduce wildlife damage in their buildings.

Last year, KCC Glass attached bird collision prevention stickers to libraries in Gwangjin-gu and Seongdong-gu, Seoul, and held talk concerts to raise awareness about wild bird protection. This year, the company plans to select two additional buildings with a high risk of wild bird collisions and continue related activities in cooperation with partner organizations.

A KCC Glass official said, "Through this business agreement, we will establish a professional public-private cooperation system so that 'Save the Birds KCC Glass' can become one of Korea's leading biodiversity conservation campaigns," adding, "We will continue to carry out various activities to ensure that people and the environment can coexist in harmony."
