Cheongyang County in South Chungcheong Province has surpassed 1 billion won in donations through the Hometown Love Donation Program, drawing attention as a model case of public-private cooperation for regional development.

On May 30, the county announced that cumulative donations had reached 1,000,200,000 won just two years and five months after the launch of the Hometown Love Donation Program. The total number of donors stands at 5,843, with 7,579 donations made in total.

This achievement is the result of synergy between donor-tailored policies and fund projects that highlight local characteristics.

To enhance donor satisfaction, the county expanded the number of thank-you gift items from 67 in 2023 to 87 this year.

In particular, "Hyangjinju Rice," introduced for the first time this year, became the second most popular choice after the Cheongyang Love Gift Certificate, gaining significant popularity.

The county is currently recruiting additional thank-you gift suppliers, expecting this to create a virtuous cycle that boosts local business sales and revitalizes the local economy.

Fund projects that resonated with donors also contributed to these results. Practical and relatable projects, such as AI device-based care services for elderly people living alone, digital competency enhancement for youth, and support for residents affected by flooding, have encouraged participation in donations.

In particular, the "Jeongsan Elementary, Middle, and High School Table Tennis Team Training Equipment and Competition Support Project" surpassed its fundraising goal just 71 days after its launch, becoming the first case of its kind nationwide. Its follow-up project, the "National Team Dream Nurturing Project," also quickly achieved its fundraising target.

The newly launched "Community Meal for Local Seniors" project has also been progressing smoothly, exceeding 20 million won in donations within just two months of its launch.

Going forward, the county plans to implement various promotional strategies, including thank-you gift expansion events and survey participation events, timed for the year-end tax settlement season.

County Governor Kim Dongon stated, "The heartfelt support of donors is a tremendous force for regional development," adding, "We will do our utmost to implement transparent and meaningful projects that reward donors' support and to discover highly satisfying thank-you gifts."
