Seongsan-gu, Changwon Special City, Gyeongnam Province, is actively promoting the improvement of public sports facilities to enhance residents' health and revitalize community sports activities.

In the first quarter, Seongsan-gu invested 98 million KRW in several projects to improve public sports facilities. These included maintenance work on trees at Banji Eoullim Playground, maintenance of aging security lights at Namyang Open Playground, pruning of trees at six community playgrounds, leveling work at three community playgrounds, painting of the stands at Namyang Open Playground, and replacement of outdoor exercise equipment at Sapajeongbyeong Playground.


In the second quarter, the district plans to invest 130 million KRW to carry out additional projects, such as upgrading lighting at public sports facilities, maintaining drainage systems at community playgrounds, and improving the gateball court facilities at Sapajeongbyeong Playground.


These projects are particularly focused on enhancing the safety and convenience of community sports facilities with high usage rates among residents. The district expects that creating a pleasant and safe sports environment will support healthy leisure activities for local residents.


Kim Su-yun, Head of the Culture and Sanitation Division, stated, "Public sports facilities are more than just spaces for exercise; they are essential infrastructure that improve residents' health and quality of life. We will continue to actively gather diverse opinions from residents to create a user-centered sports environment, and we will strive to ensure that everyone can enjoy sports activities safely and comfortably."
