Gwangju City Launches Nationwide SNS Verification Event

Gwangju City, aiming for a 92.5% voter turnout in the 21st presidential election, is working to increase participation by holding a voting verification event through social networking services (SNS).

From May 29, the first day of early voting, until June 3, the official election day, Gwangju City will hold a "Voting Verification Event" through its official SNS accounts for all citizens over a period of six days.

Under the slogan "Voting is Power," the city is running a campaign to encourage voter participation, and this event has been organized to motivate voters to cast their valuable ballots.

To participate in the event, eligible voters must take part in either early voting or the main vote, take a verification photo, tag the official Gwangju City Instagram account in their story for verification, and enter their information in the Google Form linked on Instagram. Acceptable verification photos include images showing a voting stamp on the back of the hand or a photo taken in front of a polling station.

In addition to these typical verification photos, voters can also use the "Gwangju Voting Certificate Paper" featuring the city’s promotional characters, Bitdori and Bitnayeong. Participants can print the "Bitdori Certificate Paper" uploaded on the Gwangju City Instagram account, bring it to the polling station, stamp it, and use it as their verification photo.

Park Gwangseok, the city spokesperson, stated, "We have prepared a verification event that adds an element of fun to the act of voting, which is the natural right of all citizens," and added, "Since this event is open to all citizens nationwide, we hope that many voters will participate, not just those in Gwangju."
