Lee Jae Myung Responds to Lee Jun Seok's Criticism Over Son's Scandal: "Reflect Seriously on the Nation's Fate"

Lee Jae Myung, the Democratic Party presidential candidate, responded on the 29th to criticism from Lee Jun Seok, the Reform Party candidate, who targeted him over his son's past sexual harassment posts, by saying, "I hope this election will be one where we seriously reflect on the fate of the nation."

After casting his early vote in Sinchon, Seodaemun-gu, Seoul at 10 a.m. that day, Lee Jae Myung told reporters, "In these grave times, I hope we can reflect on overcoming internal strife and restoring people's livelihoods." Earlier, at 9 a.m., candidate Lee Jun Seok had held an emergency press conference regarding 'Lee Jae Myung's son.'


Lee Jae Myung cast his early vote together with young people in Sinchon, Seodaemun-gu, Seoul, an area with many universities.


Regarding Kim Moon Soo, the People Power Party candidate who had previously pledged to abolish early voting but participated in it, Lee commented, "Isn't it characteristic of them to act differently from what they originally said?" He added, "I am not surprised."


He also stated, "There is a saying that voting is stronger than bullets. Voting is the most certain means of exercising sovereignty," and added, "Even a national crisis can only be overcome through the participation of the people in voting."


He went on to say, "We must enable Korea to return to an era of youth," and added, "I joined young people today with the hope that this presidential election will be the starting point for that."


Regarding his announcement to establish a Ministry of Climate and Energy, he explained, "Because overcoming the climate crisis is a global challenge, the energy system is undergoing a complete transformation," and added, "This energy transition is also closely related to the development of the AI industry."
