National and Public Daycare Centers and Children's English Library to Open in Seobinggo-dong and Ichon-dong, Yongsan District

Expansion of Childcare and Educational Infrastructure
in Areas with High Child Populations

National and public daycare centers and a children's English library will be established in the Seobinggo-dong and Ichon-dong areas of Yongsan District, where child-related facilities have been lacking.

On May 28, Yongsan District signed a business agreement with Namyu Industry, an affiliate of the Onnuri Mission Foundation Group, to create a children's complex facility. The district plans to receive the first floor of the Onnuri Youth Center (total floor area: 737.12 square meters) in Dongbinggo Neighborhood Park free of charge for over 20 years, and to establish a national and public daycare center and an English library there. The two facilities are expected to open in March 2026 and December this year, respectively.

Seobinggo-dong and neighboring Ichon-dong account for 35% of the total child population in Yongsan District, but there is a significant shortage of cultural and educational infrastructure such as libraries. The creation of this complex facility is meaningful as it is a customized space for the local community that combines childcare and English education, reflecting the real needs of children and parents.

The national and public daycare center will expand the childcare infrastructure for infants and toddlers, providing an environment where parents can entrust their children with peace of mind. The children's English library will offer various English learning opportunities free of charge, including borrowing and returning English books, customized English programs, and digital content experiences.

Heeyoung Park, Mayor of Yongsan District, stated, "This agreement is a meaningful starting point for building a sustainable educational foundation for future generations, going beyond the simple creation of facilities," and added, "We will continue to discover and expand public services tailored to the characteristics of the region through ongoing public-private cooperation."
