Trained on Over 40,000 Earnings Calls for Translation and Summarization
Over 150,000 Weekly Users Since Service Launch
On May 28, Toss Securities announced that it has launched a proprietary artificial intelligence (AI)-powered "real-time earnings call translation service" for overseas companies.
Through this service, Toss Securities customers can listen to live earnings calls from overseas companies and immediately understand the content through real-time Korean translations. As soon as the earnings call ends, users can also access a summary and analysis of the key points. Toss Securities is the first domestic securities firm to provide both real-time streaming of earnings calls and simultaneous Korean translation.
Toss Securities plans to break down language barriers and address the information asymmetry faced by overseas stock investors through its proprietary finance-specialized translation, summarization, and analysis technology.
For this service, Toss Securities trained and analyzed more than 40,000 earnings calls to develop a real-time translation model specialized for earnings calls. In addition, a post-processing module was implemented to verify and correct the consistency of numerical data and technical terms, thereby improving the reliability and quality of the translations.
The company also prioritized customer convenience and user experience. With a background playback feature, users can listen to earnings calls while checking related information such as the stock’s chart, quotes, and community discussions, and can even trade stocks simultaneously. Additionally, users can add emojis to the real-time translated content to see other customers’ reactions to the earnings call.
A Toss Securities representative stated, "Since the official launch earlier this month, the number of service users has exceeded 150,000 per week, indicating a positive response. We will continue to consider what our customers need, solve their problems with technology, and create differentiated services."
An earnings call is an event where a company’s management explains its performance and outlook directly to analysts and investors, and answers their questions. It provides important investment information, such as forecasts and strategies not included in official earnings reports, making it highly valuable for overseas stock investors. However, because earnings calls are conducted in English and scheduled according to local times, they have been a significant barrier for individual investors.
This quarter, Toss Securities is providing live streaming and real-time translation for more than 650 earnings calls. The company also plans to continuously enhance the service by expanding the range of covered earnings calls and gradually including major U.S. conferences that attract significant interest from overseas stock investors.
