Exclusive Installment Savings Account for Foreigners to Accumulate a Lump Sum
Higher Preferential Rates Based on Overseas Remittance Performance
Maximum Annual Interest Rate of 5.0% Including an Additional 3.0% Preferential Rate
Hana Bank announced on May 28 that it has launched the "Hana the EASY Installment Savings" product, which offers preferential interest rates to foreign customers who use overseas remittance services.
The "Hana the EASY Installment Savings" account provides greater preferential interest rate benefits based on overseas remittance performance. It is an exclusive product for foreigners residing in Korea who regularly send money abroad, such as through salary remittances, giving them an opportunity to accumulate a lump sum. In particular, even before the maturity of the savings account, customers can make a special early withdrawal without penalty if they return to their home country or remit the deposited savings overseas.
The "Hana the EASY Installment Savings" product will be available until the end of this year, limited to 30,000 accounts. The monthly deposit amount ranges from 10,000 KRW to 300,000 KRW, with a contract period of one year. The applicable interest rate consists of a base rate of 2.0% per annum, plus a maximum preferential rate of 3.0% per annum, for a total maximum annual rate of 5.0%.
The conditions for preferential rates are as follows: up to 1.5% per annum based on the number of overseas remittance transactions; up to 0.5% per annum based on the total amount of overseas remittances; 0.5% per annum for salary transfers; and 0.5% per annum for Hana Card payment performance. Customers can sign up at a nearby Hana Bank branch or through the bank's main mobile banking app, "Hana 1Q."
To commemorate the launch of the savings product, Hana Bank will also hold a "Guess the Name of the Installment Savings Account Initial Quiz Event" from May 29 until the end of June. Any foreign customer who has signed up for the "Hana the EASY Installment Savings" account can participate via the overseas remittance app "HanaEZ." Prizes will be awarded by lottery, including: a gold key (1 winner), a CU convenience store mobile voucher worth 30,000 KRW (10 winners), and a Paris Baguette mobile voucher worth 10,000 KRW (100 winners).
A Hana Bank representative stated, "We have launched the 'Hana the EASY Installment Savings' account so that our main foreign customers can accumulate a lump sum under better conditions," adding, "We will continue to provide differentiated services with various benefits in the future."
