Arrest Warrant Dismissed for Far-Right Group Executive on Drug Charges... Court Says "Suspect Admits Guilt"

The court has dismissed an arrest warrant for an executive of a far-right organization who used drugs in a motel.

On May 27, Yoo Aram, a judge in charge of warrants at the Incheon District Court, dismissed the arrest warrant after holding a pretrial detention hearing for Mr. A, a man in his 30s who is under suspicion of violating the Narcotics Control Act by using psychotropic drugs.

Mr. A is suspected of having used methamphetamine, a type of narcotic, at a motel in Jung-gu, Incheon, around May 24. After the police arrested Mr. A in the act and collected his urine sample for analysis by the National Forensic Service, both the preliminary test and the rapid reagent test returned positive results for narcotics.

Judge Yoo stated the reasons for dismissing the warrant, saying, "Although the case is not minor, the suspect has admitted to all charges, and evidence has already been collected through searches and seizures, so it is difficult to see a risk of evidence destruction related to the alleged crime."

She added, "The suspect has a fixed residence and is employed as the CEO of a corporation, indicating established social ties. He has pledged to cooperate faithfully with the investigation and trial, and since he has no previous convictions for similar offenses, it is also difficult to see a risk of flight at this stage."

Mr. A is an executive member of a far-right organization that espouses anti-feminist views. He previously caused controversy by livestreaming on YouTube at the scene during the Seobu District Court riot.
