Former Daegu Mayors and Superintendent Attend
Former City Council Chairpersons Also Publicly Endorse
On May 27 at 2:00 p.m., 17 former leaders of Daegu?including former mayors, former superintendents of education, and former city council chairpersons?officially declared their support for presidential candidate Kim Moonsoo at the auditorium on the 5th floor of the People Power Party Daegu City Office.
The event was attended by Lee Mangyu, the current chairperson of the Daegu City Council, as well as former Daegu mayors Moon Heegap, Cho Haenyeong, and Kim Beomil; former Daegu superintendent of education Woo Donggi (19th and 20th terms); and former Daegu City Council chairpersons Kim Sangyeon (1st term, 2nd term latter half), Lee Seongsu (3rd term first half), Lee Deokcheon (4th term latter half), Jang Gyeonghun (5th term first half), Choi Moonchan (5th term latter half), Do Ihwan (6th term first half), Kim Hwaja (6th term first half), Lee Jaesul (6th term latter half), Lee Yunwon (6th term latter half), Lee Donghee (7th term first half), Do Jaejun (7th term latter half), and Jang Sangsu (8th term latter half). Together, these former chairpersons expressed their support for candidate Kim Moonsoo.
Former Daegu mayors and Daegu City Council chairpersons are declaring their support for candidate Kim Moonsoo at the People Power Party Daegu City Office.
In a joint statement, the attendees declared, "Candidate Kim Moonsoo is the only politician who can defend liberal democracy and the rule of law," and added, "We fully support candidate Kim Moonsoo, who can truly advance both the Republic of Korea and Daegu."
Former mayor Cho Haenyeong appealed for support, saying, "Let us help candidate Kim Moonsoo win, so that we can once again raise our children in a great nation filled with hope." Former chairperson Kim Sangyeon stated, "This is the most important time since the founding of the country," and urged, "Let us unite and work together so that candidate Kim can achieve a landslide victory in Daegu."
Former superintendent Woo Donggi emphasized, "It is the role of adults to pass down a country we are not ashamed of," and asserted, "Kim Moonsoo is the only leader who can build a great Republic of Korea."
This declaration of support is being seen as a significant event symbolizing the united support of the Daegu region, as key leaders who have led Daegu's administration and legislation have voiced their trust in candidate Kim Moonsoo with one voice.
