The city explained that, although it has previously repaired sections of traditional markets where leaks occurred due to aging, this year it has decided to minimize inconvenience for visitors during the rainy season by conducting proactive inspections in advance.
To this end, the city has increased its budget for maintenance of traditional market facilities this year and is carrying out repair work in phases, with plans to complete the work before the middle of next month, when the rainy season is expected to begin.
Separately, Pyeongtaek City is also conducting monthly safety management of electrical, fire, and fire alarm facilities at traditional markets through specialized companies to prevent fires.
An official from Pyeongtaek City stated, "We will continue to do our best to minimize damage to traditional markets caused by heavy rain and heavy snow resulting from climate change, and to create a pleasant environment."
