Kim Moonsoo Vows Immediate 30 Trillion Won Supplementary Budget Talks and Introduction of People-Participated Cabinet if Elected

Establishing an Emergency Economic War Room to Prioritize Livelihoods and Trade
Creating a Presidential Transition Task Force to Develop Implementation Plans for Pledges

Kim Moonsoo, the People Power Party's presidential candidate, announced on the 27th that if elected and upon taking office as president, he would immediately establish an "Emergency Economic War Room" and begin discussions on an additional supplementary budget for people's livelihoods amounting to 30 trillion won.

At a press conference held that morning at the People Power Party headquarters in Yeouido, Seoul, Kim stated, "I will do my utmost to normalize state affairs and support the lives of the people," and announced six pledges, including the supplementary budget proposal.

Regarding the establishment of the Emergency Economic War Room, Kim said, "Our economy is in such a critical condition that we cannot afford to wait until ministers are appointed. We will promptly mobilize the economic team centered around the presidential office, and ensure that business leaders and small business owners are included." He added, "We will prioritize issues related to people's livelihoods and trade, and make sure the relevant organization is activated immediately."

To discuss the 30 trillion won supplementary budget, he emphasized that he would convene a joint meeting of the floor leaders of both ruling and opposition parties on the afternoon of his inauguration day. Kim explained, "We will respond swiftly to international economic issues that have a significant impact on our national interests, such as rapidly changing trade matters, through bipartisan consultations."

He also pledged to establish a Presidential Transition Task Force under the presidential office to formulate implementation plans for the pledges, and to form a National Cabinet Recommendation Committee, in which the people recommend cabinet members, to prevent personnel controversies.

Kim emphasized, "The cabinet must work for and serve the people, not the president," and added, "Through the National Cabinet Recommendation Committee, the cabinet will be formed by the hands of the people, and any appointments that do not meet the public's expectations will be excluded to ensure fair and transparent cabinet operations."

In the area of diplomacy, he stated that he would immediately hold a phone call with U.S. President Donald Trump and seek to visit the United States within a month in order to promptly resolve trade issues with the United States.

He also pledged, "To ensure the transparent and fair operation of the presidential office, any appointments that do not meet the public's expectations will be thoroughly excluded."
