Signature Chicken Dishes and Korean Cuisine Gain Popularity
Word Spreads About BBQ as a Local "K-Food Hotspot"
Genesis BBQ Group announced on May 27 that the 'BBQ Central Branch,' located in Central, the heart of Hong Kong, has surpassed daily sales of 20 million KRW.
The 'BBQ Central Branch' is a store with a total floor area of 140 pyeong (464 square meters) and 123 seats across two floors, situated in Central, which is both the downtown and main commercial district of Hong Kong. This area is a tourist hotspot, featuring attractions such as the 'Mid-Levels Escalator,' famous as a filming location for the movie "Chungking Express," and the 'Central Market,' which was Hong Kong's first traditional market and has now been remodeled into a complex cultural space popular among young consumers. The daily floating population in the area, including those from nearby shopping malls, offices, securities firms, and banks, exceeds an average of 10,000 people.
The BBQ Central Branch has recently exceeded its highest daily sales of 20 million KRW, driven by the popularity of signature menu items such as 'Golden Olive Chicken' and 'Honey Garlic Chicken,' which have been on the menu for 20 years. Korean dishes that highlight authentic flavors, such as Bulgogi Stone Pot Bibimbap, Rose Tteokbokki, and Dak Kalguksu, are also popular. This is attributed to the growing demand for 'K-culture' among the younger generation in Hong Kong, which has led to a surge in the popularity of 'K-food.'
A BBQ representative stated, "BBQ is solidifying its position as a leading 'K-food' brand in the global market by establishing itself in Hong Kong, a city renowned for its diverse food culture and hidden culinary gems. Moving forward, we will continue to focus on developing menus tailored to local tastes in each country, as well as improving and providing convenient services, so that BBQ can become a brand loved by people around the world."
