The Daejeon Fire Department announced that it has completed pre-election safety inspections at 457 polling and ballot counting stations in the region ahead of the 21st presidential election.

This inspection was carried out to prevent accidents on election day and to establish a rapid response system, with the goal of eliminating fire hazards and various disaster risks in advance at facilities used as election venues.

The inspection included: securing fire hydrants and emergency exits; checking the maintenance status of firefighting equipment, such as replacing outdated fire extinguishers; providing fire prevention safety consulting; conducting on-site safety training for staff, including instruction on how to use fire extinguishers and emergency escape devices; and checking the accessibility of fire truck entry routes.

The Daejeon Fire Department plans to continue preventive patrols around polling and ballot counting stations until election day, taking proactive measures to manage potential risks.

Kim Munyong, Chief of the Daejeon Fire Department, stated, "The safety of polling stations is directly linked to the public's trust," and added, "We will do our utmost to ensure that citizens can cast their valuable votes with peace of mind through prevention-focused safety inspections."
