Hoban Construction Leads in Social Contribution
Spearheading Coexistence with 'Hoban Sarang Nanum'
Hoban Construction, which won the 'Social Contribution' category at this year's Asia Economy Apartment Brand Awards, is recognized as a brand that goes beyond simply providing residential spaces and takes the lead in creating social value. Through a variety of social contribution activities?including coexistence with local communities, support for the socially disadvantaged, and assistance for future generations?the company puts into practice its philosophy of "building homes together."
Hoban Sarang Nanum conducts environmental improvement volunteer activities at local elementary schools. Provided by Hoban Group.
One of Hoban Construction's representative social contribution activities is the regular volunteer work carried out by its employee volunteer group, Hoban Sarang Nanum. Since its establishment, the group has conducted more than 160 volunteer activities over the past 15 years. Employee donations have also exceeded 1 billion KRW. The company encourages family participation in these volunteer activities, allowing a culture of warm sharing to permeate the corporate environment, rather than limiting the program to employees only.
The company's swift response to social disasters is also noteworthy. From 2023 to the present, Hoban Construction has donated a total of 1.5 billion KRW in relief funds in response to major domestic and international disasters, including wildfires in Gangneung and North Gyeongsang, the earthquake in Turkiye, and the war in Ukraine. In partnership with organizations such as the Korean Red Cross, the company has supported disaster recovery and provided aid to victims. In particular, in Andong?a region affected by wildfires?employees visited the site to cook and serve 300 meals directly as part of their on-site volunteer efforts.
Educational support is also a core aspect of Hoban Construction's social contribution. The Hoban Scholarship Foundation, established in 1999, has awarded scholarships totaling 17.7 billion KRW to approximately 9,800 students to date. In addition to local talent scholarships aimed at addressing educational disparities in regions such as Incheon, Daegu, and Gwangju, the foundation also operates the "Companion Scholarship" program annually for the children of military personnel, firefighters, and police officers. This year, the foundation plans to provide a total of 900 million KRW in scholarships to about 300 recipients.
Support for the medical sector is also ongoing. Hoban Construction has donated a cumulative total of 2.1 billion KRW to institutions such as Yonsei University, Seoul National University, Catholic University, and Hwasun Chonnam National University Hospital, contributing to the treatment of critically ill children, improvement of medical school facilities, and enhancement of research environments. Recently, the company has also expanded emotional and practical support for marginalized groups, such as hosting first birthday parties for children from single-parent families and offering job experience programs for young people preparing for independence.
A Hoban Construction representative stated, "The true value of a brand lies in the social contribution activities that a company practices in everyday life," adding, "We will continue to steadily pursue a variety of coexistence programs for local communities, neighbors, and future generations."
