Korea Financial Investment Association Qualification Exams to Officially Recognize Mobile IDs

The Korea Financial Investment Association announced on May 26 that, starting with the 35th Derivatives Investment Solicitor Qualification Certification Exam to be held on June 1, mobile identification cards will be recognized as official forms of identification under the association's regulations.

Newly accepted forms of identification include the 'Mobile Driver's License' (issued by the National Police Agency), the 'Mobile Resident Registration Card' (issued by local governments), the 'Mobile National Veterans Registration Card' (issued by the Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs), and the 'Mobile Public Official ID Card' (issued by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety).

The apps that can be used for identity verification are the Mobile ID app, Samsung Pay app, and Mobile Public Official ID app. However, the 'ID Mobile Verification Service' provided by apps such as Government24 and Pass app will not be accepted. The association is considering expanding the range of accepted mobile IDs in the future, depending on the adoption of mobile identification cards.

To allow for mobile ID verification before the exam begins, the deadline for entering the test room has been changed to 9:40 a.m. After the entry deadline, candidates will not be allowed to take the exam under any circumstances. Candidates are advised to check the location of their test room in advance and arrive on time. The location of each test room can be found in the announcements on the Korea Financial Investment Association Qualification Exam Center website.

The association also recommends that candidates planning to use a mobile ID check in advance that the relevant app is functioning properly before exam day, and prepare their smartphone's battery and network environment so that the ID screen can be verified immediately in the test room.

Han Jaeyoung, President of the Korea Institute of Financial Investment Education, said, "We expect that recognizing mobile IDs as official identification for the association's qualification exams, in line with the government's efforts to promote the use of mobile identification, will enhance convenience for test-takers." He added, "The association will continue to work to improve the test-taking environment for candidates, such as by introducing guidance announcements at test centers."
