The "Gwangmyeong Autonomy College" is a lifelong learning program designed to foster village leaders who build solidarity with neighbors and solve local issues to create a sustainable city. Since launching the program in 2020, the city has produced 396 village leaders as of last year.
The program consists of theoretical classes, practical training, discussions, and project-based learning to help participants grow into local activity experts. Five departments are open for applications: ▲Civic Education ▲Village Community ▲Carbon Neutrality ▲Garden City ▲Social Economy. The program runs for a total of 20 weeks, from June 20 to November 27. Any Gwangmyeong citizen or resident in the Gwangmyeong area may apply through the "Gwangmyeong Lifelong Learning Platform."
Jung Chansu, Director of the Gwangmyeong Lifelong Learning Center, stated, "Gwangmyeong Autonomy College is more than just a learning program; it is a journey where each citizen grows into a village leader who thinks about and solves local issues together." He added, "We will continue to provide diverse learning opportunities so that citizens can take the lead in realizing a sustainable city."
