Gwangju Employers Federation Concludes Campaign to Guarantee Voting Rights for 21st Presidential Election

The Gwangju Employers Federation announced on May 25 that it has recently concluded a campaign to guarantee voting rights for the 21st presidential election, which was attended by executives and member companies.

On May 23, Gwangju City Administrative Vice Mayor Ko Gwangwan and others signed an agreement for the campaign to guarantee voting rights for the 21st presidential election and provided guidance to ensure that workers are granted time to vote during the early voting period from May 29 to 30.

For the 21st presidential election, workers' voting time is legally protected. If workers are scheduled to work during both the early voting period and on election day, they may request the necessary time to vote from their employers. Employers are required to grant this time upon request. Additionally, employers must inform workers?via the company website, newsletters, internal bulletin boards, and other channels?of their right to request time off for voting, between three and seven days before election day.

Yang Jinseok, President of the Gwangju Employers Federation, urged member companies to remind their employees to bring identification such as a resident registration card, which is issued by government or public institutions, includes a date of birth, and has a photo attached to verify identity, when voting.
