Yeosu Emerges as a Hub for Web Dramas
Web Content Creators Gather for International Festival
Yeosu City in South Jeolla Province (Mayor Chung Kimyung) announced on the 25th that it has begun the official call for entries for creators ahead of the Second Yeosu International Web Drama Film Festival, a festival that brings together web content creators from around the world.
The submission period runs until June 30, and anyone, domestic or international, interested in web content creation is eligible to participate. The competition categories include web content, short-form content, and AI-based creations. In addition, a special category focusing on Yeosu has been added to discover unique tourism content centered on the city.
The city plans to select 60 works through a selection committee review, and will determine the final winners in July. On the last day of the festival, an awards ceremony will be held, where a specially crafted trophy symbolizing Yeosu and a total prize pool of 20 million won will be awarded.
All nominated works will be available for free viewing during the festival, which is expected to draw international attention to web content and help establish Yeosu's reputation as a tourism content hotspot.
The Second Yeosu International Web Drama Film Festival will be held over three days from September 10 to 12 at the Yeosu Expo Convention Center. Starting with the opening ceremony, a variety of side events such as candlelight performances, forums, director talks, and a red carpet will be offered to provide a rich experience for visitors.
A city official stated, "The Yeosu International Web Drama Film Festival will be a stage where creative freedom, technological convergence, and the romance of Yeosu come together," adding, "We hope for the enthusiastic interest and participation of creators with new stories and imagination."
Meanwhile, the Yeosu International Web Drama Film Festival was first held last year, receiving more than 1,300 web content submissions and concluding with great success.
