Air Conditioner Sales Surge as Heatwave Approaches... Samsung Electronics Reports "10,000 Units Sold Daily"

More Than 7 Samsung Home Air Conditioners Sold Per Minute
AI-Equipped Models Account for Over 80% of Sales
LG Electronics Also Sees 45% Increase from January to April Year-on-Year

As an unprecedented heatwave is forecasted for this summer and hotter, more humid weather than usual continues, demand for air conditioners is surging. Samsung Electronics' home air conditioners, which feature enhanced artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities, surpassed daily sales of 10,000 units a month earlier than last year.

According to industry sources on May 25, Samsung Electronics reported that, between May 19 and 23, daily domestic sales of its standard stand-type and wall-mounted air conditioners, WindFree stand-type, wall-mounted, and window-type air conditioners (for home use), and home-use system air conditioners exceeded an average of 10,000 units per day.

Over the past five days, more than seven Samsung home air conditioners were sold every minute. Compared to last year, when daily sales surpassed 10,000 units in mid-June, this milestone was reached about a month earlier.

Last week, Samsung's home air conditioner sales increased by over 30% compared to the same period last year. In the first quarter, domestic sales of standard home air conditioners also rose by 51% year-on-year. Notably, home air conditioner models equipped with AI features accounted for more than 80% of total sales.

Samsung Electronics' 2025 AI air conditioner lineup consists of four models: Bespoke AI WindFree Combo Gallery, Bespoke AI WindFree Classic, AI WindFree Combo Wall-Mounted, and AI Q9000. All new models are equipped with innovative features such as 'AI Comfort', which automatically creates a pleasant environment, and 'AI Saving Mode', which can reduce energy consumption by up to 30%.

In response to forecasts of record-breaking heat this summer, Samsung Electronics began operating its air conditioner production lines at full capacity more than 10 days earlier than last year. The company also deployed a dedicated installation team of over 4,700 members ahead of schedule to respond promptly to customer demand.

Since last month, Samsung has also been running the 'AI Home Appliance Troika' campaign, focusing on air conditioners, washing machines, and refrigerators. The Bespoke AI WindFree Combo has attracted attention as figure skating queen Kim Yuna, a former air conditioner advertising model, has returned to feature in Samsung's air conditioner commercials.

LG Electronics also reported increased sales, particularly for products equipped with AI technology.

Cumulative sales of the LG Whisen stand-type air conditioner from January to April increased by 45% compared to the same period last year. The 'LG Whisen Objet Collection Tower I' and 'LG Whisen Objet Collection View I Pro', both launched earlier this year, are equipped with 'AI Voice Recognition' features. With simple everyday phrases such as "I'm sweating" or "Another tropical night today," the AI can understand the user's intent and adjust the temperature and airflow accordingly. The air conditioner can be easily controlled by voice without a remote control.

The new 'AI Wind' feature learns the user's usage patterns and the structure of the space to provide customized cooling. The number of LG air conditioner subscription customers this year has more than doubled compared to last year. Subscription users receive professional care services such as product inspections, filter replacements, UV sterilization, and free repair benefits.

To meet growing demand, LG Electronics has been operating its air conditioner production line in Changwon, Gyeongnam, at full capacity since March. The company has also increased installation staff to ensure smooth product installation as sales rise.

LG Electronics stated, "We are driving sales growth by offering a wide range of products, including wall-mounted, window-type, and portable air conditioners, so that customers can choose the optimal product according to their living environment and intended use."
