The Namwon City Public Health Center in Jeonbuk will expand the operation of the 'Maeumansim Bus,' a mobile psychological support service aimed at promoting citizens' mental health and responding to psychological crises.

According to the health center on May 23, the Maeumansim Bus is a specially equipped vehicle staffed with mental health professionals. It travels directly to various villages, offering a range of mental health services such as stress measurement and mental health counseling. This meaningful service provides care and healing for local residents.

In particular, the mobile counseling service is provided directly to schools, workplaces, welfare facilities, rural areas with high elderly populations, and regions densely populated by vulnerable groups. In addition, a campaign to improve suicide awareness is being conducted for all citizens.

This year, the Maeumansim Bus focused on five areas that recorded a high number of suicide deaths in the previous year. Across all towns and villages, it conducted 36 sessions of mental health counseling for about 600 people. Through collaboration with related organizations such as administrative welfare centers, facilities, and senior welfare centers, the center is taking a multifaceted approach to early identification of high-risk groups and those in welfare blind spots.

A health center official stated, "Active psychological support for suicide prevention and mental health promotion is extremely important during high-risk periods for suicide," adding, "We will continue to do our best to ensure that citizens can receive help even in times of psychological crisis."
