Applications Accepted Until June 5
On May 23, the city of Hwaseong in Gyeonggi Province announced that it will provide 166 vacant rental housing units owned by Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH) within the city as dormitories. This initiative aims to help small and medium-sized manufacturing companies in the area secure workers amid ongoing recruitment difficulties, and to support residential stability for employees.
This project, now in its third year, is being implemented through an agreement among Hwaseong City, the LH Gyeonggi Southern Regional Headquarters, the Hwaseong Industry Promotion Agency, and the Hwaseong Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Previously, the city supplied 509 units in 2023 and 383 units last year as dormitories for employees of small and medium-sized enterprises.
This year, the rental housing units to be supplied as dormitories are as follows: 36 units in Namyang-eup, 49 units in Bongdam 2 District, 59 units in Bibong District, 6 units in Baran District, and 16 units in Taean 3 District. These units will be used as dormitories for domestic employees of small and medium-sized manufacturing companies within the city.
Eligible applicants are small and medium-sized manufacturing companies located in Hwaseong with manufacturing sales. Interested companies can apply through the 'Hwaseong City Corporate Support Platform' from May 30 to June 5.
The city will select companies for residency based on several factors, including the duration of business operations, export activities, possession of technology-related certifications, status of new employee recruitment, and youth employment. Additional points will be given to companies that operate in-house systems supporting work-life balance for employees.
The city plans to notify the selected companies on June 20 and have them sign occupancy contracts with LH from July 22 to July 24.
Jung Myung-geun, Mayor of Hwaseong, stated, "We will continue to create an environment where companies can work comfortably in the future."
