Erin Hills in Erin, Wisconsin to Host Tournament Starting on the 29th
Unusually Large Number of KLPGA Players Competing in US Major During the Season
KLPGA's Accelerated Global Strategy Policy Drives Participation
Yumin Hwang: "Excited and Looking Forward to It"
Top players from the Korea Ladies Professional Golf Association (KLPGA) Tour will compete in the US Women's Open, a major tournament on the LPGA Tour with a total prize fund of $12 million.
Six players?Yumin Hwang, Hyunjoo Yoo, Seunghee Noh, Dasom Ma, Suji Kim, and Sohyun Bae?will participate in the tournament, which will be held over four days starting on the 29th (local time) at Erin Hills (par 72) in Erin, Wisconsin, USA. It is unusual for as many as six players from the KLPGA Tour to compete in the US Women's Open during the KLPGA season. In 2023, only three players?Minji Park, Dayeon Lee, and Somi Lee?participated, and last year, Minbyeol Kim, Suji Kim, and Hyunkyung Park competed. Among the six players participating in this year's US Women's Open, four?excluding Yumin Hwang and Suji Kim?will be making their debut in an overseas major tournament.

The large number of KLPGA Tour players challenging the US Women's Open is due to the application of a new regulation. Last month, the KLPGA Tour announced a policy to accelerate its global strategy. Under the revised rule, KLPGA Tour players who achieve a top-10 finish in an overseas major tournament will receive the same points as those awarded for domestic major tournaments. Earlier this month, Hyunkyung Park earned points by finishing tied for 8th at the World Ladies Championship Salonpas Cup, a major event on the Japan Ladies Professional Golf Association (JLPGA) Tour.
The US Women's Open has a strong connection with KLPGA Tour players. So Yeon Ryu, In Gee Chun, and A Lim Kim all won the US Women's Open as non-members while playing on the KLPGA Tour, earning direct tickets to the LPGA Tour. Yumin Hwang, who will compete in this year's US Women's Open, said, "I am excited and looking forward to it. My first goal is to make the cut," and added, "I will confidently show everything I have prepared so far."
