HK Innoen announced on the 23rd that it conducted invasive plant removal activities in the Tancheon Taepyeong Wetland on the 22nd in celebration of the International Day for Biological Diversity.
This activity was part of the initiatives under the "ESG Environmental Sector Win-Win Cooperation Agreement" signed with Seongnam City in March. It was planned in conjunction with the opening of "HK Innoen Square," the company's R&D platform located in the 2nd Pangyo Techno Valley in Seongnam, Gyeonggi Province, with the aim of conserving the local ecosystem and enhancing employees' understanding of biodiversity.
The event was joined by "Keundam ESG Seongnam," an institution involved in the ESG environmental agreement, and the "Gachon University ESG Action Group," making it a meaningful occasion where members of the local community worked together for ecosystem conservation.
Before the main activities, Keundam ESG Seongnam, a professional environmental education institution, introduced the ecological value of the Taepyeong Wetland and explained the problems caused by invasive species to HK Innoen employees and the Gachon University ESG Action Group.
On this day, participants removed Ambrosia trifida (giant ragweed), reflecting on the importance of biodiversity conservation. Ambrosia trifida is a representative invasive species that threatens biodiversity or disrupts ecosystem balance after being introduced from outside the region.
An HK Innoen social contribution official stated, "It is especially meaningful as this was our first activity in collaboration with Seongnam City," and added, "We will continue to take the lead in ecosystem conservation and the creation of a sustainable environment in cooperation with the local community."
In March, HK Innoen signed an ESG environmental sector cooperation agreement with Seongnam City to establish a win-win partnership with the local community. In July, the company is preparing activities in collaboration with the Pangyo Environmental Ecology Learning Center. Previously, HK Innoen has carried out various community-linked activities such as the "Healthy Forest, Comfortable Breath" campaign, where employees planted trees themselves, and the "Plogging" campaign, where they collected trash near business sites.
