Chungnam Province has launched an initiative to establish a 'Smart Farm Specialized Port' in order to proactively respond to the domestic smart agriculture market for agricultural and marine products.
On the 22nd, the province held the 'Research Project Kickoff Meeting for the Development Plan of Smart Farm Specialized Ports for Agricultural and Marine Products' in the conference room of the provincial office, with officials from the Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Bureau, research staff, and external experts in attendance.
The kickoff meeting proceeded with an overview of the research tasks and a presentation of detailed implementation strategies by the research institution, followed by discussions on redefining the functional roles of ports within the province and exploring practical measures to establish a smart logistics foundation.
This research aims to enhance the logistics and distribution efficiency of Chungnam's agricultural and marine products by strengthening the linkage between smart farm clusters and ports in the province, and to develop strategies for reflecting these outcomes in the national port plan.
The main tasks include: ▲analyzing the current status of agricultural and marine product production and distribution in Chungnam, ▲forecasting logistics demand for smart farms and establishing processing systems, ▲reviewing the division of roles and linkage plans for each port, including Boryeong, Daesan, and Dangjin Ports, ▲analyzing the feasibility of designating specialized ports, and ▲developing strategies and policy recommendations for inclusion in national plans.
The province plans to derive research outcomes through two interim report meetings scheduled for July and October, followed by a final report meeting in December.
Jeon Sangwook, Director of the Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Bureau, stated, "Chungnam is home to the nation's largest smart farm cluster, and now is the time to innovate the logistics system for agricultural and marine products through port linkages." He added, "Through this research project, we will redefine the functions of local ports and lay the foundation for strengthening the export competitiveness of the region's agricultural and marine industries."
