Chosun University announced on May 22 that it has been selected for the third consecutive year as the lead institution for the "2025 Digital Sprout Project," promoted by the Ministry of Education, 17 metropolitan and provincial offices of education nationwide, and the Korea Foundation for the Advancement of Science and Creativity.
Accordingly, Chosun University will receive a total of 1.2 billion KRW in government funding this year to provide software (SW) and artificial intelligence (AI) education to elementary, middle, and high school students across the country.
The "Digital Sprout" project is a large-scale national initiative that began in 2022, aiming to foster future digital talent and bridge educational gaps. It is designed to enable elementary, middle, and high school students nationwide to experience a variety of AI and SW education programs.
With this selection, Chosun University plans to collaborate with companies such as Witches and Palchilgusam to offer customized education to a total of 5,000 students through six themed educational programs.
In particular, this year, the university introduced a "self-directed module program" that allows students to choose educational content based on their level and interests. In addition, the on-site program will be tailored to the characteristics of each class through prior consultations with teachers, while the group program will be operated as customized education that reflects students' interests and proficiency through pre-counseling sessions.
Professor Cho Youngju, the program manager, stated, "We will continue our efforts to enhance participation and immersion in the program through the improved educational model and to bridge the digital divide."
Professor Byun Jaeyoung, the general project manager, said, "We will strive to nurture creative and responsible digital talent through student-centered hands-on education," adding, "We will actively support Chosun University so that it can fulfill its role as a hub for digital education nationwide."
