This campaign has been organized to help students experience the significance of elections as democratic citizens and to recognize the importance of political participation.
This year, the number of student voters in the Gwangju area eligible to participate in the presidential election is 6,442. Beginning today, the Office of Education has launched promotional activities on its official blog, Instagram, and other social media channels, encouraging participation in voting with the phrase, "Your vote creates the Republic of Korea of tomorrow."
On May 26 and 27, the office also plans to distribute card news covering topics such as the significance and importance of voting, election campaigning that student voters need to know, and key points of the Public Official Election Act.
Superintendent Lee Jeongseon stated, "We expect that our students will be able to grow as democratic citizens by participating in elections for the first time," and added, "We hope that student voters, as future citizens, will cast their valuable votes to help create a bright future for the Republic of Korea."
