The "Heat-Related Illness Surveillance System" is a system that enables real-time monitoring of heat-related illness cases by cooperating with emergency room medical institutions, and allows for prompt response and management when patients occur.

Heat-related illnesses occur when a person is exposed to hot weather for an extended period. Typical symptoms include headache, dizziness, muscle cramps, fatigue, and decreased consciousness. In severe cases, these conditions can be life-threatening.

Types of heat-related illnesses include heat edema, heat cramps, heat syncope, heat exhaustion, and heat stroke. In severe cases, these conditions can lead to fatal outcomes due to organ damage.

To prevent heat-related illnesses, it is important to stay in cool places (shade), drink water frequently (hydration), and refrain from outdoor activities during the hottest hours (rest). Special care is needed for children, the elderly, and people with chronic diseases, as they have difficulty regulating body temperature and should avoid prolonged exposure to heat.

An official from the Buan County Public Health Center stated, "Due to climate change and global warming, the risk of heat-related illnesses is increasing," and emphasized, "It is important to refrain from outdoor activities during heatwaves, rest in cool shade, and ensure adequate hydration."

The official added, "We will further strengthen our campaign to promote 'Knowing Your Health Index for Heat-Related Illness Prevention,' and we hope that residents will actively participate in prevention activities."
