'Perfect Score in Korean History' Seo Kyungseok Donates Talent with Korean History Special Lecture for Youth Preparing for Independence

Four Special Lectures Scheduled in June and July

Broadcaster Seo Kyungseok will lead a special lecture to help youth preparing for independence get ready for the Korean history exam. On May 22, the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission announced that it will hold the special lecture together with Seo Kyungseok from June to July. Previously, the commission appointed Seo Kyungseok as a promotional ambassador and honorary counselor (mentor) for youth preparing for independence. This appointment was due to Seo Kyungseok achieving a perfect score as the first celebrity to do so on the 73rd Korean History Proficiency Test in February 2025.

The special lecture, which Seo Kyungseok is offering as a talent donation, will be held three times: on June 10, July 1, and July 22, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., at the Cultural Lecture Room on the fourth floor of Mapo Central Library in Seoul. The lecture will focus on solving practical problems in preparation for the 75th Korean History Proficiency Test scheduled for August. Participants are required to watch Seo Kyungseok’s Korean history concept lectures, which are posted on his YouTube channel, before attending the special lecture.


In addition, after each session, the commission plans to provide time for participants to talk with mentors who are counselors for youth preparing for independence. Park Kangbin and Park Taeyang, both of whom have experience preparing for independence and are actively involved in supporting others, will share their own success stories and essential information about becoming independent. Professional counselors from Seoul Housing and Communities Corporation, Korea Employment Information Service, and Korea Institute of Startup & Entrepreneurship Development will introduce support programs in the areas of housing, employment, and entrepreneurship, and answer participants’ questions. The special lecture is open free of charge to any youth preparing for independence, as well as children from child welfare facilities who are preparing for or interested in the Korean history exam. Those wishing to participate must complete and submit the Korean history special lecture application form for youth preparing for independence by May 31.


Meanwhile, Seo Kyungseok, a graduate of Seoul National University who debuted through the 1993 MBC Comedy Contest, has attracted attention by taking various certification exams in addition to his broadcasting activities. He obtained a real estate agent’s license by passing the 34th Certified Real Estate Agent Exam in 2023, and recently achieved a perfect score on the Korean History Proficiency Test. Seo Kyungseok is also dedicated to obtaining certifications such as cultural commentator and social worker, and continues to pursue self-development and activities in various fields.
