Supporting Recovery of Small Business Owners Affected by Wildfires
Promoting Revitalization of the Local Economy
Cheongsong County in North Gyeongsang Province will increase the discount rate for the 'Cheongsong Sarang Currency', which plays a significant role in revitalizing the local economy, from the current 10% to 15% starting June 1, 2025.
To support the prompt recovery of residents and small business owners affected by wildfires and to restore the local economy, Cheongsong County plans to sell a total of 40 billion won worth of 'Cheongsong Sarang Currency' in 2025 at a 15% discount at all times. The individual purchase limit will be adjusted from the current 700,000 won to 600,000 won.
An official from the county stated, "Since Cheongsong Sarang Currency offers a purchase discount (the 15% special discount will be applied until the 40 billion won allocation is exhausted), we expect a strong response from residents." The official also said, "It is expected to have a positive effect in supporting the economic activities of small business owners suffering from wildfire damage and in revitalizing the stagnant local economy."
County Governor Yoon Kyunghee expressed gratitude to residents who have actively participated in purchasing and using Cheongsong Sarang Currency so far. Yoon added, "We have raised the discount rate to 15% to help restore the weakened economy in wildfire-affected areas and to stimulate consumption, so we ask for your continued support and use."
Cheongsong County plans to strengthen crackdowns on illegal distribution in response to the increased discount rate and will continue efforts to establish a transparent distribution system for Cheongsong Sarang Currency.
