Siheung City Invites Citizens to Walk Barefoot on the Siheungcheon Embankment

Completion of 300-Meter Barefoot Clay Path Construction

On May 22, Siheung City in Gyeonggi Province announced that it had created a barefoot clay path on the embankment of the Siheungcheon River in the area of 2154 Jeongwang-dong, allowing citizens to walk barefoot.

This barefoot path was established after being selected for the 'Gyeonggi Soil Scent Barefoot Path Creation Project' and was constructed over the course of about a month with a project budget of 90 million won. The path stretches for 300 meters along the embankment, from the intersection of Yeokjeon-ro and Keunsol-ro to Oegwan 3 Bridge. At the starting point, a foot washing facility and shoe racks have also been installed. The city plans to additionally install benches for rest and railings for safety along the path.

With the creation of this Siheungcheon embankment path, the number of barefoot paths within Siheung has increased to four, including the existing locations: Block 7 of Gomsolluri Forest (1969 Jeongwang-dong), Block 3 of Gomsolluri Forest (1953 Jeongwang-dong), and Jeongwang 3-dong Coastal Green Space (2140 Jeongwang-dong).

Kim Jeongcheol, head of the Greenery Division of Siheung City, stated, "We will do our best to manage the barefoot path so that many citizens can enjoy a healthy and safe walk," and added, "We will continue to strive to discover innovative walking trails that can heal both the bodies and minds of our citizens."
