"Mosquito Experts Dispatched"... Yongsan District Launches Mosquito Larvicide Disinfection Consulting

Professional Disinfection Companies to Visit 300 Homes with High Mosquito Activity
Customized mosquito control services offered in Yongsan District
Applications open for households experiencing frequent mosquito problems

Yongsan District in Seoul is launching a full-scale "Mosquito Larvicide Disinfection Consulting Support Project" in response to the increase in mosquito populations caused by climate change. This project will run until November, targeting homes where mosquitoes are frequently found.

"Mosquito Experts Dispatched"... Yongsan District Launches Mosquito Larvicide Disinfection Consulting The Yongsan District Public Health Center's disinfection team is conducting mosquito larvicide treatment activities. Provided by Yongsan District.

To prevent infectious diseases and address gaps in disinfection coverage, a professional disinfection company will visit residents' homes directly and provide customized disinfection services a total of six times. The services include diagnosing environments vulnerable to mosquito breeding, applying larvicide to toilets and septic tanks, and providing information on mosquito control. The team will also inspect mosquito habitats such as window screens and drains, and educate residents on customized disinfection schedules and proper use of larvicides.

The support is available to 300 households experiencing mosquito problems, including single-family, multi-family, row, and multiplex houses. Applications can be submitted by the housing representative or owner, with the consent of the head of household, either in person at the Yongsan District Public Health Center or via email (sorichunsa@yongsan.go.kr) by the end of this month.

To prevent safety accidents, the district provided advance safety and health training to the companies carrying out the project. After the project ends, Yongsan District plans to analyze its effectiveness by evaluating resident satisfaction and changes in mosquito trap counts. In addition, the district will operate the "Integrated Septic Tank Disinfection Project" through the end of the year. After septic tank cleaning, larvicide will be applied immediately without a separate application to fundamentally block mosquito breeding.

Park Heeyoung, Mayor of Yongsan District, stated, "This project is an active measure to protect residents' health and proactively prevent the spread of infectious diseases," adding, "We will create a healthy residential environment through practical disinfection activities that residents can truly feel."
