Yoon Hojoong: "Violation of the Public Official Election Act... Distorting the Will of the People"
Regarding Yoon Sukyeol's 'Movie Screening': "A Scene Too Shameful to Watch"

Yoon Hojoong, the head of the election campaign committee for the Democratic Party of Korea, stated that he would "immediately file a complaint and uncover the truth" after allegations emerged that a member of the People Power Party proposed unification to Lee Junseok, the presidential candidate of the Reform New Party, by offering him party leadership.

At a meeting of the committee heads held at the Democratic Party headquarters in Yeouido, Seoul, on the 22nd, Yoon said, "It has been revealed that a disgraceful deal was proposed to Lee Junseok, offering him the next party leader position of the People Power Party in exchange for unification," and delivered this message.

He stated, "If this is true, it is a direct violation of Article 232 of the Public Official Election Act (crime of bribery and inducement of interests to a candidate), which is a serious crime punishable by up to seven years in prison or a fine of between 5 million and 50 million won," adding, "We will not tolerate any attempt to distort the will of the people."

He also criticized former President Yoon Sukyeol for attending a screening of a film about election fraud the previous day, calling it "a scene too shameful to watch." Yoon said, "Yoon Sukyeol, a traitor who should be in prison, watched a documentary film about election fraud while being cheered by his supporters," adding, "The documentary is, in short, a collection of absurd conspiracy theories and fake news that justify acts of insurrection."

Yoon further stated, "To make matters worse, Kim Moonsu, the People Power Party's presidential candidate, responded to former President Yoon by saying he would do his best to dispel suspicions of election fraud," and added, "I hope this is not a premeditated build-up to once again raise the issue of election fraud and frame the outcome of this presidential election as an act of insurrection."
