This agreement is expected to further strengthen international cooperation in response to issues such as drug smuggling occurring in Southeast Asia, as well as employment fraud and confinement cases related to so-called "reading room" scams.

Lee Junhyeong, Director of International Cooperation at the National Police Agency, stated, "This marks the first step toward strengthening international cooperation between the National Police Agency and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime. By responding more effectively to transnational crimes such as drug offenses and human trafficking, we will play a pivotal role in international security diplomacy, enhance the status and dignity of the Republic of Korea, and do our utmost to protect the safety of our citizens."
