Henan Province, China, with a population of about 100 million, ranks sixth in China in terms of gross domestic product (GDP) and is recognized as a key economic zone in the inland region. Sanmenxia City, located in the western part of Henan Province, has traditionally been an industrial hub and has recently been focusing on industrial upgrading and fostering eco-friendly industries. Zhengzhou, the capital of Henan Province, is a core transportation and logistics hub in inland China, where advanced manufacturing, e-commerce, and the logistics industry are actively developing.
The Future Cooperation Forum, held on May 20 in Zhengzhou, was attended by 150 Chinese government officials and business representatives, including Zhang Min, Vice Governor of Henan Province, as well as 80 members of the Korean business delegation, including Kim Myungjin, President of the MainBiz Association, and Yang Geumhee, Vice Governor of Economic Affairs of Gyeongsangbuk-do. The forum provided a platform to present directions for industrial cooperation between the two regions. It also offered opportunities to enhance understanding of support systems related to certification procedures, regulations, and market entry barriers that companies from both countries face when entering new markets.
The one-on-one consultation meetings, held over two days on May 19 and 21, brought together 38 promising Korean SMEs?including MainBiz companies in consumer goods, medical and bio, and industrial automation sectors?and over 100 buyers from Henan Province. The MainBiz Association and KOTRA, in consultation with the Henan provincial government at the early stage of the event, analyzed buyer demand and established a performance-oriented structure that led to on-site consultations through customized matching. In addition, they identified promising project information early on and connected participating companies in advance, creating opportunities that could lead to actual orders and supply contracts.
Kim Myungjin, President of the MainBiz Association, stated, "I hope that with the hosting of today's export-import consultation meeting, Korean and Chinese companies will expand mutual exchange and cooperation, significantly contributing to the establishment of supply chains for global market entry and to the industrial and economic development of both countries."
