According to the Korea Meteorological Administration on the 20th, on Wednesday the 21st, daytime temperatures in most parts of the country are expected to exceed 25 degrees Celsius, continuing the early summer heat. In the southern part of Gyeonggi Province and inland areas further south, temperatures are expected to reach around 30 degrees Celsius, similar to today.
The pressure system will be similar to the previous day. The Korean Peninsula will be on the edge of a high-pressure system located over the sea east of Japan, and will be affected by warm and humid southerly winds, resulting in clear skies.
On the 21st, morning lows are expected to range from 18 to 22 degrees Celsius, and daytime highs from 21 to 30 degrees Celsius. This is 2 to 7 degrees higher than the average year (morning lows 10 to 15 degrees, highs 22 to 27 degrees).
The forecasted minimum and maximum temperatures for major cities are as follows: Seoul 21 and 27 degrees, Incheon 19 and 26 degrees, Daejeon 21 and 30 degrees, Gwangju 22 and 28 degrees, Daegu 21 and 29 degrees, Ulsan 21 and 26 degrees, and Busan 20 and 23 degrees.
There is also a precipitation forecast. Due to the influence of a trough, Jeju is expected to receive rain from the night of the 20th until late afternoon on the 21st. Expected precipitation is 10 to 40 mm for areas except the north, up to over 60 mm in mountainous regions, and 5 to 20 mm in the north.
In addition, there is a possibility of less than 5 mm of rain between dawn and morning on the 21st in the Seoul metropolitan area, inland and mountainous areas of Gangwon, northern Chungnam, the Jeonnam coast, and the southern coast of Gyeongnam. Showers may be brief but intense, and may be accompanied by gusty winds, thunder, and lightning, so caution is advised.
Also, dense fog is likely to form on bridges over the sea such as Incheon, Yeongjong, Seohae, and Cheonsa Bridges, as well as on roads near rivers, lakes, and valleys, so extra attention to traffic safety is necessary.
Ozone levels also require caution. In the southern part of Gyeonggi Province, Yeongseo region of Gangwon, Chungnam, and Gyeongbuk, ozone concentrations are expected to rise to the 'bad' level.
