First in the Nationwide Regional Kimchi Series
Seasonal Regional Kimchi Releases Planned
Emart announced on May 21 that Peacock, its private brand, launched the "Peacock Ginseng Turnip Kimchi (1.5kg)" on May 16, utilizing specialty products from Ganghwado.
This product will be sold in a limited quantity of 5,000 units for two months starting in May. Until May 29, it will be available at a 20% discount for Shinsegae Point members, priced at 19,840 won instead of the regular price of 24,800 won.
"Peacock Ginseng Turnip Kimchi" is a product that offers a sweet and unique flavor by using turnips and ginseng, both specialties of Ganghwado. Ganghwado is renowned for its abundant sunlight, large temperature swings between day and night, and sea breezes, all of which contribute to the high quality of its turnips.
Peacock Ginseng Turnip Kimchi is the first product in Emart's "National Regional Specialty Kimchi Project." Kimchi varies in taste and preparation methods depending on the region. Seoul kimchi is known for its mild and clean flavor, while Jeolla Province kimchi is rich and savory due to the generous use of salted seafood and seasonings. Regional specialties such as chives, green onions, oysters, and mustard greens are also often used.
This year, Emart plans to sequentially launch kimchi products featuring regional specialties from across the country. The goal is to offer customers a selection of unique and high-quality kimchi from various regions, catering to diverse tastes, preferences, and palates.
Meanwhile, there is a growing preference for "Lonomy" products, which utilize local specialties. Among the Emart Yeongdeok Red Snow Crab collaboration products launched last month, the "Peacock Red Snow Crab Chips" sold about 60,000 units, doubling its sales compared to the first month after launch. The "Peacock Crab Shell Flavor Fried Rice" sold approximately 25,000 units, ranking first in both sales and volume among Peacock frozen rice products.
Kim Jieun, a buyer for Emart Peacock, said, "We developed this product so that customers can conveniently enjoy Ganghwa kimchi at home, which is rarely found outside Ganghwado," and added, "We will continue to discover Lonomy kimchi products that allow customers to experience new foods and support local farmers."
